NRL to wait on police investigation

NRL chief executive David Gallop says the league will wait until the end of a police investigation surrounding sacked Brisbane halfback Brett Seymour before deciding whether to take further action against the player.

Seymour and fellow Bronco Neville Costigan have both had their contracts terminated by the club over their involvement in off-field incidents. Seymour has recently been accused of head-butting a woman in a Brisbane pub while utility forward Costigan was this week charged with drink driving.

Gallop says it is unlikely the NRL will de-register a player for drink driving, but would still await a full report from the Broncos over the incidents. Gallop has also praised Brisbane for the way it has handled the issue.

Broncos managing director Bruno Cullen says both players had been warned previously about their conduct.
