NSWRL Premier League : Round 10 Preview

With all the hype surrounding the first State of Origin match, Round 10 of the NSWRL Premier League has snuck up on us.

First game this weekend is up in Newcastle with the Knights hosting the Dragons. With back to back wins, the Knights will be looking for their third but with the Dragons performing so well of late, I think their winning streak just may come to an end tonight. Newcastle vs Dragons Friday 13th June 2003, Energy Australia Stadium. Kick off at 5.30pm. Ref: Mathew Cecchin.

The Cougars were in my opinion surprising losers last weekend when they went down to the Sharks. At St Marys for the third week in a row, I think they will get the better of the Newtown Jets. Newtown have pushed some top teams lately and will not be phased by the Cougars in the slightest, but will have their work cut out. The Jim Beam Cup round between the two clubs is also being played at Western Weekender with a kick off time of 1.15pm. Cougars vs Jets Saturday 14th June 2003, Western Weekender. Kick off at 3.00pm. Ref: Jeff Younis.

An interesting match up between the Sharks and the Magpies at Toyota Park. Both with very similar playing styles. The Sharks will have confidence after downing the Cougars in the last round, and the Magpies after their bruising encounter with Souths will look forward to a win. A tough one to call. Sharks vs Magpies Saturday 14th June 2003, Toyota Park. Kick off at 3.30pm. Ref: Steve Lyons.

Parramatta will be looking to avenge their loss to top of the table Canberra in the last round and unfortunately Norths will be the ones to suffer. Eels vs Norths Saturday 14th June 2003, Parramatta Stadium. Kick off at 5.30pm. Ref: Gavin Badger.

The Bulldogs are sitting 2nd equal on the points table and really should not have too much difficulty in posting a win over Manly who are last equal on the table. Bulldogs vs Manly Sunday 15th June 2003, Sydney Showground. Kick off at 12.40 pm. Ref: Tony Archer.

The Roosters had a tough battle against the Bulldogs last weekend which should set them up well when they host the Tigers on Sunday. Balmain have been looking good, but will have to be on their game against the Roosters outfit. Roosters vs Balmain Sunday 15th June 2003, Aussie Stadium. Kick off at 1.10pm. Ref: Jason Robinson.

Last up is the leaders in the competition hosting the Rabbitohs. Both of these teams had narrow victories last weekend. The Raiders have earned their spot at the top of the ladder, and I'm pretty sure they will stay there after Round 10.

Raiders vs Souths Sunday 15th June 2003, Canberra Stadium. Kick off at 1.10pm. Ref: Jason Weinstein.
