Origin update - Inglis, Carroll, Hodges

NSW coach Graham Murray believes Queensland will be a more formidable opponent following the addition of Tonie Carroll and Chris Flannery to the side which lost the Origin series opener.

Carroll and Flannery have been brought in for Matthew Scott and David Stagg in a bid to give the Maroons pack more bite in next week's vital clash at Suncorp Stadium. Murray said there were no obvious weaknesses in the Queensland side, but was surprised that Matt Bowen wasn't retained on the bench after Karmichael Hunt was preferred at fullback.

The Blues will look to build on their game one success, with the majority of the side that won the series opener retained for Origin two. The only change for the Blues is Luke Bailey in for injured North Queensland forward Luke O'Donnell, who has a broken thumb.

The Blues will hold their first training session in Sydney later today.

Queensland winger Greg Inglis is in extreme for next week's must-win second State of Origin clash due to a stress fracture in his back. Maroons officials will make a decision on the availability of the teenage sensation later today after he suffered a knock to his back while playing for Melbourne in Saturday night's 20-16 win over the Roosters.

The loss of Inglis, who scored two tries on debut in last month's series opener, would be a huge blow to the Maroons, who need to win Wednesday week's Suncorp Stadium match if they are to keep the series alive. Queensland already have injury concerns over strike pair Tonie Carroll and Justin Hodges, who will be given until Friday to prove their fitness.

Hodges has not played since tearing his hamstring in the Origin opener, while Carroll suffered knee cartilage damage in Brisbane's victory over the Warriors on Sunday.
