Origin wrap

Queensland forward Nate Myles has pleaded guilty to a grade one dangerous throw on NSW rookie Brett White in tonight's 25-18 State of Origin win at Suncorp Stadium and has been banned for two games.

Myles lifted White in an ugly spear tackle in the 10th minute and can consider himself lucky to get away with a grade one charge. He will miss the Sydney Roosters' next two NRL games, but will be available for Game II of the Origin series at Telstra Stadium on June 13.

Bizarrely, tonight was Myles' first top-line game since a three-game suspension earlier in the season and he hasn't played for his club since April.

Meanwhile, Tonie Carroll has escaped charges from last night. The match review committee looked at two separate high tackles by Carroll in the first half, on New South Wales prop Brett White and centre Matt Cooper, but found he had no case to answer.

Queensland coach Mal Meninga has praised his old warhorses Steven Price and Petero Civoniceva for sparking tonight's come-from-behind 25-18 State of Origin series opening win over NSW at Suncorp Stadium.

Price scored one try and was simply outstanding while Civoniceva tirelessly carried the ball forward as Queensland overcame an 18-6 halftime deficit to claim a four tries to three victory. Halfback Johnathan Thurston was named official man of the match by the Australian selectors.

Queensland rookie prop Antonio Kaufusi is expected to miss the rest of the season after snapping the patella tendon in his right knee early in the second half tonight. NSW rookie Kurt Gidley has been sent to hospital after dislocating his right shoulder while fellow debutant Brett White finished the game with a busted nose.

Willie Mason suffered a right hamstring strain and must be in some doubt to play again on Friday in the Bulldogs NRL clash with North Queensland at Suncorp Stadium.
