Overnight wrap: Dragons, Fien, Wing

St George Illawarra coach Nathan Brown believes his playmakers have finally come to grips with their on-field roles ahead of their blockbuster NRL clash against Parramatta tonight.

The Dragons have struggled for attacking cohesion following the return of five-eighth Trent Barrett from suspension a fortnight ago, prompting BROWN to spell out exactly what he expects from his star ballplayers.

The clash is a vital one for the Dragons, who are desperate to snap a three-game losing streak to remain in contention for a top-four finish. Conversely, the Eels have all the momentum after six straight victories and can force their way into the top eight for the first time all year with a victory.

Across the itch, Queenslander Nathan Fien says witnessing the spirit among his team mates at the New Zealand Warriors has inspired him to make himself available to play rugby league for the Kiwis.

Fien has turned his back on the chance of playing Origin for Queensland again by seeking an opportunity to play in the black and white jersey. The Mt Isa native has a New Zealand-born grandmother, enough to make him eligible for selection to the Tri Nations champions for this year's series.

Meanwhile, speculation continues to surround the future of Craig Wing after the Sydney Roosters star refused to make a clear commitment to the NRL club.

Despite being contracted to the Roosters till the end of 2007, rumours persist that WING will follow playmaker Brett Finch out of the club next season. Wing yesterday had the opportunity to finally put the issue to rest, but refused to confirm or deny suggestions he was on the outer at the Bondi Junction club.
