Penrith and Bradford to aid
Arthritis research on World Club Challenge Day

Triple Champions Bradford Bulls have today announced that they will be joined by Penrith Panthers in a Family Open Day at Odsal Stadium as part of the build up to their forthcoming World Club Challenge Game against the NRL Champions.

The Family Fun Day will be held between 1pm and 3pm at Odsal Stadium on Sunday 8th February and has been organised in conjunction with and in support of the Arthritis Research Campaign (arc). The Lord Mayor of Bradford will also be in attendance at the event, which promises to kick off the World Club Challenge week in great style.

Bulls Media Manager Stuart Duffy Commented.

?We are delighted that the Penrith Panthers are able to join us for the day and to be able to support Arthritis Research Campaign. We are all looking forward to the Game against Penrith at the McAlpine Stadium on the 13th and we hope that many of our supporters will take this opportunity to meet some of the stars of what promises to be a showpiece occasion.

On the link up with Arthritis Research Campaign, Stuart Duffy commented further

?Arthritis is of course a disease that many professional sportsmen and women may face after they retire from their chosen sport. The more work and research that can be done to find ways of improving their quality of life is something that we fully support at Bradford Bulls.

Arthritis Research Campaign (arc) are delighted to be part of the Family Open Day with Bradford Bulls on Sunday 8th February at Odsal Stadium.

As part of the celebrations from 1pm-3pm, arc are organizing a charity family walk around Odsal Stadium accompanied by players from both Bradford Bulls and the Penrith Panthers.

This unique opportunity will not only give families a chance to meet and walk with the stars themselves but also encourage walking as a gentle form of all year round exercise.

Kathryn Leverett Area Appeals Manger from Arthritis Research Campaign (arc) said ?It is wonderful to be involved in this great event. Inactivity is the worst thing for joints- even if they are painful. Walking is a simple way to exercise muscles, flex joints, keep bones strong and stay healthy. It is also a fun and simple way to raise money for such a worthwhile charity.

Research funded by arc has already led to significant advances in the medical care for people with arthritis. Many treatments in common use today are the result of our work in the last 60 years. But there is still so much to do...with your assistance we can improve millions of lives affected by arthritis?

Arthritis Research Campaign has existed since 1936 and is one of the leading medical charities in the UK, researching not only arthritis but other related musco-skeletal disorders such as osteoporosis and lupus. There are currently over 8 million people in the UK with arthritis or one of the rheumatic diseases, and I expect you can think of a family member, or friend who may suffer. Many people imagine it to be an old person?s disease yet one in every thousand children and babies are sufferers and many are wheelchair-bound as a result.
