Perry Pumped by Dolphins Success

THERE was one very interested but slightly nervous Redcliffe ``supporter'' on the sidelines of the Dolphins' Wizard Cup grand final match.

Before his elevation to the Broncos side, half-back Shane Perry was a pivotal player in the Dolphins' Queensland Cup side.

While he had bigger things on his mind last Saturday, in the form of the Andrew Johns-led Newcastle Knights, Perry admitted he had an ear open for the Dolphins' game.

``I had a couple of people text me some updates as the ABC didn't take the game into Sydney,'' Perry said.

``I was really looking forward to the Knights game but I was with the Dolphins in spirit. I was keen to catch up with them on Sunday to celebrate the win over a few victory beers.''

Perry was ``quietly confident'' the mix of youth and experience was the perfect blend to win the Wizard Cup.

``With blokes like Cow (Troy Lindsay), Starry (Adam Starr) and Mickey Roberts leading from the front, I was hoping to see the boys get over the line.''

And as for his replacement Marty Turner, Perry knew he had the goods be a grand final playmaker.

``He was playing some of his best football in the lead-up and he's got the confidence and ability to control the game,'' Perry said.
