Preview: St
Helens v Wakefield (Round 12)

St Helens are looking to maintain their 100% record at the expense of Wakefield - and go six points clear of Leeds - but coach Daniel Anderson does not expect their run to last.

Bookmakers William Hill say they have taken bets from punters on Saints breaking Bradford?s record 20-match winning run at the start of the 1997 season and have the leaders at 12-1 to win all 28 matches of the regular season.

?It?s all talk,? said Anderson, whose team have won their opening 11 games. ?People will keep talking about it until we drop one.

?We will have to play well every game (for it to happen). I asked (Leeds coach) Tony Smith to drop a couple of games to give us an opportunity to rest some players.

?He said it was similar last year (when Leeds led by four points at the halfway stage). When teams are chasing, you have to keep your best players on the field all the time.

?Everyone is after your scalp and every game is tough. You don?t get many lay-down games. We?re seen as a target by just about every team.?

Wakefield, bottom of the table six weeks ago, are enjoying something of a revival as they go into the game looking for a fourth win in five matches.

But they have won away from home only once this season and conceded 60 points on each of their two visits to Knowsley Road last year.

?In their games they have let themselves down on occasions,? said Anderson. ?They?re a very talented team.?

Saints must attempt to continue their run without leading scorer Jamie Lyon, the reigning Man of Steel.

Lyon, who tops the Super League scoring list with 106 points, misses only his fourth match for St Helens because of an eye infection.
