Wigan v Castleford (Round 13)

Castleford assistant coach Brad Davis has labelled Friday?s engage Super League clash at Wigan a four-pointer but new Warriors coach Brian Noble is refusing to take notice of the table.

Wigan?s heavy defeat at Hull last Sunday, coupled with Castleford?s surprise win over Salford, cut them four points adrift of their nearest relegation rivals and a win for the Tigers at the JJB Stadium would give them a valuable cushion.

?It?s probably a four-pointer,? said Davis. ?It?s a chance for us to gain a bit of momentum after our win over Salford.

?If we get the win, it puts a bit of distance between us and them but we know they are going to react to their defeat at Hull.?

Davis, who came out of retirement at the age of 38 to help the Tigers? fight the drop, was in the Castleford side that beat Wigan 14-10 in the 1999 play-offs, their only previous win at the JJB Stadium.

His half-back partner that day was Wigan?s Danny Orr, who was in the side that crashed 38-18 at the Jungle in March and will be desperately hoping to avoid conceding an ignominious double to the promoted side.

Noble, who takes charge of his first Wigan home game, is refusing to contemplate the prospect of relegation.

?It?s the 13th round, we?re still two games away from the half-way stage,? he said.

?If you get carried away with the League table now, it just creates pressure.

?The players are not stupid, they look at the League ladder and they know how important it is. But the performance is more important.?
