Broncos and Prince sign off in style

IT couldn't have been scripted better.

In his 300th and final first grade game, Broncos five-eighth Scott Prince departed the game of rugby league as a winner as his team engineered a gutsy 16-11 defeat of Canterbury at Suncorp Stadium tonight.

26,599 fans saw the lead see-saw several times in the second half with Corey Oates' second try six minutes from time putting the Broncos back in front for good.

Prince told Channel Nine after the game he had mixed emotions following his final game.

"It's a little bit weird. You always feel like there's next week but I'm happy there's not another one. I'm excited about the next chapter of my life."

"Thank you very much for everyone involved in my career," he said.

The first 20 minutes of the match was an arm-wrestle played mainly between the two 20-metre lines with scoring chances at a premium.

Mitch Brown went the closest for the Bulldogs in the 13th minute when he picked up a pass on the bounce and pinned his ears back for the corner.

In game number 300, Broncos five-eighth Scott Prince decided he wanted to win one more little battle before hanging up the boots and he bundled Brown into touch just a metre from the corner post.
Points were finally scored after 28 minutes through Canterbury five-eighth Josh Reynolds. In the end it was a rather simple play with Reynolds standing at second-receiver and receiving the ball with the Broncos defence sliding.

He dummied on the outside before pushing past some feeble Broncos goal-line defence.

Several minutes later Broncos halfback Ben Hunt sent winger Corey Oates down the eastern sideline with a perfect ball over the top as Sam Perrett rushed in off his wing.
With Oates bearing down on him, Bulldogs fullback Josh Morris was penalised for a shoulder charge as the Brisbane winger and him collided with the ball going into touch.

The Broncos made the most of that decision by scoring through Oates from the ensuing set of six and again it was Hunt in the middle of the action with the gifted halfback delivering a pinpoint cross-field kick to his winger who outleapt Krisnan Inu to score out wide.
