Toowoomba started the match strongly against Easts at Langlands Park before fading to a 42-24 loss in the ABC Television clash. Young Kiwi centre Jason Tiatia, trialling for a contract with the Broncos, made a break before linking with winger Nathan Stains to score the Clydesdales first try. Matt Lockyer found winger Steve Beattie with a good pass and then only minutes later Lockyer again put Beattie over for his second try and the Tigers led 10 ? 6. Easts hooker Mike Hobbs crossed under the posts to extend the margin before centre Ashley Alberts snared an intercept and raced 80 metres to score for the Clydesdales and the scores were 16 ? 12 at half-time. Only minutes after the break Lockyer scored to increase the lead but halfback Isaac Kaufmann crossed for Toowoomba to keep the Clydesdales in reach of a win and also their finals aspirations alive. The Tigers however had other ideas and they raced in a further four tries, winger Justin Loomans collecting a double, to record a convincing win. Easts second rower Mark Leafa, a former Sydney Roosters player, was named QRL man of the Match after a powerhouse performance.

Wynnum dropped from first to fourth on the ladder after a 28 ? 26 loss to Burleigh in front of a big crowd at Kougari Oval. The Seagulls dominated the match scoring five tries to build a handy 26 ? 16 lead after 65 minutes and looked to maintain their position at the top of the table. But with more possession the Bears crossed for two late converted tries to snatch a thrilling win and move into third position on percentages. Burleigh hooker Ryan Dagwell scoring a double for his team.

Norths with six wins and a draw in eight rounds were claiming the mantle of the competition?s firm team, but Ipswich smashed this allusion with a 44 ? 12 drubbing of the Devils at Bishop Park. The Jets put in a flying start to the match racing to a 24 ? 0 after only 15 minutes. Fullback Darren Robinson and centre Jermaine Alberts notched doubles for Ipswich with Devils centre Junior Langi also scoring two tries.

Souths Logan collected their third win of the season with a 36 ? 24 result over Wests at Davies Park. For the Magpies winger Jason Hynes and centre Rick Dodd both scored doubles, with Dodd also adding two conversions

Redcliffe outclassed a depleted Comets outfit 66 ? 18 at Browne Park. The Dolphins crossed for a total of 11 tries in the match with winger Aaron Barba notching a double to take his season tally to 26 tries. Justin McKay (10), Damien Richters and the Comets Jade Wogard (3) recorded an amazing 100% conversion result in the match.

North Queensland surprised Tweed Heads to win 42 ? 22 in their clash at Piggabeen. Youngster Matthew Scott crossed twice for the Young Guns with winger Brenton Bowen scoring a try and slotting seven conversions. The Seagulls (24) stay in fifth spot after Toowoomba (23) also recorded a loss, but these teams clash next week in a match that could decide a finals place.
