Match summary: The South Sydney Rabbitohs have handed the Parramatta Eels a 49-26 thrashing at Aussie Stadium this afternoon.

The Eels came out firing in the opening minutes but a three try blitz in just eight minutes saw Souths go to a 16-6 lead.

The Rabbitohs went further ahead before an exchange of tries saw Souths' winger Luke MacDougall bag a hat trick of tries.

At half time, Souths held a handy 28-16 lead.

Souths continued to dominate play after the break, half back Joe Williams capping off a tremendous match with eight goals plus a field goal for a personal tally of 17 points.

HALF TIME: A flurry of late tries in the first half half. Souths dominated proceedings mid-way through the first half and as a result have less work to do in defence. Standouts for Souths are Ashley Harrison and Luke Stuart in the forwards while the MacDougalls (Luke and Adam) are making plenty of yards through the backline. Parra are getting good service from Nathan Hindmarsh and Glenn Morrison up front but overall, still have plenty of work to do.

FULL TIME: Parramatta came out firing early in the match but Souths weathered the storm, scoring three tries in eight minutes. Souths' half back Joe Williams played a dominant role in the second half on the back of some great forward work from Ashley Harrison. Luke MacDougall scored a hat trick. Parramatta, who bought up big in the off-season, showed some flair but their fans deserve something more than what we saw today.
