The Canberra Raiders in conjunction with Habitat Personnel and the Department of Veterans' Affairs will be attempting to break a Guinness World Record by staging the largest ever 3-legged race on Tuesday August 12 at Northbourne Oval.
It's all part of the NRL's Close the Gap round in round 23 of the competition.
The 3-legged race aims to bring indigenous and non-indigenous Australians together in a bid to achieve the world record which currently stands at 649 pairs of 3-legged racers.
The Canberra Raiders NRL squad and coaching staff will all be part of the event, and are encouraging members of the public to turn up on the day to help break the record.
"The event will be an opportunity for members of the public to come along and join the team as they attempt to enter the record books , we are hoping not only to break the current record, but smash it." Said proud Raiders indigenous player Matt Allwood.
"The Raiders are really excited about the record attempt. We are hoping that indigenous and non-indigenous Australians will come down and join us on the day so we can beat the current world record and enter the Guinness World Record book," Alwood said.
Registrations for the race will start from 12.00pm on the day. The race will commence at 12.30pm sharp. Participants are asked to arrive at Northbourne Oval anytime from 11.00am to register and be a part of this Guinness World Record attempt.
Other activities on the day will include information marquees from Habitat Personnel, Oxfam, Defence Force Recruiting, the Department of Veterans' Affairs and Raiders Membership.
On the day, participants are asked to park and walk to the venue at Northbourne Oval, as the venue will be only accessible to members of the public via the entry on Donaldson Street adjacent to the old Braddon Club site.
Participants will be supplied with leg ties on the day.
