Raiders to pay respect with alternate jersey

The Canberra Raiders will wear their alternative black strip this Sunday when they take on the North Queensland Cowboys at Canberra Stadium, as a mark of respect for Raiders board member Jim Murphy who passed away last week.

The Raiders will hold a moment's silence after the players enter the field on Sunday afternoon, with a tribute to Mr Murphy to be displayed on the big screen prior to kick-off.

The Raiders in conjunction with their official merchandiser Jerseys Megastore will also donate $10 from the sale of every black jersey at Canberra Stadium on Sunday to the ACT Branch of Open Family, a charity organisation which assists young people who are homeless, an organisation where Mr Murphy was also a board member.

Raiders Chairman John McIntyre said the club had been shocked and saddened by the passing of Mr Murphy and said the club wished to pay their respects to a long-time supporter of the Raiders.
