Redcliffe Dolphins Flashback Dave
Brown

This story is from the match day program March 21-22 1982.

Some light hearted chiding from Gold Coast second rower, Dave McLeod could backfire in the big Owen Park clash with Redcliffe on March 21.The chiding was aimed at Redcliffe's giant centre Dave Brown.
McLeod and Brown are good friends, and it was while the big centre was in McLeod's Beaudesert Hotel last weekend that he was told the Vikings would be too strong for the Dolphis.
"He wanted me to bite but I wouldn't" Brown said. "I'll give my reply on the football field."
Brown, 22 is a former Beaudesert player and his family still live in the town where his father owns Dyers Drapery store. Except for three years at Ashgrove College in Brisbane (Where he played Rugby Union Union), Brown has played all his football in Beaudesert.
During part of that junior career he partnered international centre, Chris Close whose policeman father was stationed at Beaudesert for five years. Brown played for the Beaudesert Kingfishers in the Gold Coast League in under 19's and first grade football and represented the Gold Coast under 21 side.
He had a break from the code in 1979 and concentrated on surfing. "When I started getting too heavy for the board I decide to go back to football," he said.
In 1980 he played first grade with Beaudesert and last year joined Redcliffe. His one first grade match was aginst Wests. In this year's Woolies pre-season competition he has been a first grade regular and is starting to work up a good combination with the more experienced Steve Cherry.
Weighing in at 93 kilograms Brown admits he could afford to be a bit lighter, but he says he is getting fitter with every match.
Single, he lives at Redcliffe with Chris Close's brother-in-law Wayne Locke and Redcliffe third grade player Doug Cameron. Brown is employed as a landscaper by Frank Saito's Kimberley Nursery at Loganholme.
