Redcliffe Dolphins News

After a 2 week break the rejuvenated Dolphins take on Bronco affiliates Toowoomba and West?s at Dolphin Oval this Sunday.

The Colts will gain some insight into how far they have developed this season coming up against a West?s outfit that has enjoyed strong representation in the South-East Division and QLD U19 representative sides. The young Dolphins are keen to put in a good performance and are looking forward to the challenge West?s present. Look for halves Wayne Bond and Joe Parekura to steer the side around the park and for our forward pack led by Brad Massey and Michael Pares to hold up their end of the bargain, classy fullback Mitchell Simpson will be another one sure to be up for the occasion.

Ian Grahams A Grade side will be keen to turn the corner into Round 2 in second place with a win over West?s. ?Iggys? boys have been the Clubs form outfit over the course of the season and their determination in defence has had a lot to do with that. The side has been performing well with plenty of players applying pressure to the QLD Cup outfit.

The Premier Grade will get a similar gauge on their progress to the Colts when they meet the Clydesdales. Both sides have had some patchy results this season and their Coaches will be well aware to build momentum these are the sort of games you need to be firing in. A couple of new faces in the Dolphins side will bring some enthusiasm with them while experience campaigners Shane Perry, Troy Lindsay and Danny Burke have all been in good form. All things considered this one shapes up as a good game.

The couple of new faces I am referring to in the Premier Grade wrap are Luke Tonion and Damien Jentz. Both these guys are new to the Club this season and are fully deserved of this opportunity. ?Shrek?(Jentz) joined the Dolphins after Brothers /Valleys folded and has worked hard behind some experienced campaigners to get his chance, he will enjoy playing in the QLD Wizard Cup once again. ?The Virus? (Tonion) joined the Dolphins this year from Moranbah although this is not his first crack at footy in Brisbane after winning a Premiership with West?s Colts in 2002 ironically beating Reddy in the GF. Tonion is a highly competitive customer and will give a whole-hearted account of himself in his first taste of QLD Cup. The Club wishes both these guys well.

The Dolphins are proud to welcome game day sponsor KEYSTAR for this weekends games. KEYSTAR have joined the Club as Junior League Sponsors this year and we look forward to a long partnership with Charlie, Robbo and all the staff at KEYSTAR, we hope you enjoy the day. If any of you Dolphin supporters are in the market for a car you?d do well to go out and see the guys for a great deal.
