RIETHMULLER SIGNS NEW CONTRACT

Back-rower Joel Riethmuller's outstanding season as part of the North Queensland Toyota Cowboys' NRL squad has earned him a new two-year contract.

The Cowboys' decision to sign the former Tully junior until the end of the 2013 season was announced today and continues a year to remember for Riethmuller who made his NRL debut in round 14 against Manly at Brookvale Oval.

The 26-year-old has now made four appearances for North Queensland, as well as taking his Intrust Super Cup career games total past 100 as a key member of the second-placed Northern Pride.

Riethmuller, who has always spent time with the Ipswich Jets, said he was happy he could continue his NRL career close to home and that his playing future had been settled for at least the next two seasons.

He is keen on challenging for a more permanent place in the Cowboys' pack in 2012.
