Rhinos 54 - Giants 10

Leeds Rhinos coach Tony Smith praised his side?s carefree brand of attacking rugby as they piled on the points against his former club Huddersfield Giants.

The champions ran in nine converted tries in a 54-10 victory at the Galpharm Stadium to maintain their two-point lead at the top of the engage Super League.

Richard Mathers marked his 50th start for the Rhinos with two tries, and Chris McKenna and Chev Walker also touched down twice as Leeds topped the half-century mark for the second successive week - despite the absence of last year?s leading scorer Danny McGuire.

?People talk about completion rates, but our completion rate in the second half was 55%,? said a delighted Smith.

?You can have your completion rates - I would rather watch some attacking rugby. There were some mistakes, but it was refreshing to watch.

?I thought there was some outstanding play with some extra special skills. Kevin Sinfield is playing really good rugby league. He is looking fit and strong and he is kicking well. I can?t speak too highly of him at the moment.?

Huddersfield scored tries through Jim Gannon and Hefin O?Hare but were never in contention against their in-form opponents - and they conceded two tries while down to 12 men with Gannon in the sin bin.

The Giants have now lost their last three matches, and coach Jon Sharp admits they were thoroughly outplayed by the champions.

?They were too hot to handle,? he said.

?I thought they were outstanding and would have been a handful for anyone.

?We didn?t perform as well as we have been doing. Individually some people didn?t front up.?
