Robbo Reckons

After six rounds the Dolphins are sitting in sixth spot on six points. Since beating Easts at home we have lost to Burleigh at Pizzey Park before registering wins against Souths Logan and Wynnum before a disappointing loss to the Young Guns. The Burleigh game was a tough game and we thought we were heading the right direction, the Wynnum game was a physical game in the wet and the hoodoo Wynnum have at Dolphin Oval continued. 1984 was the last time they won here and astonishingly they have only won three games in Redcliffe at either Dolphin Oval or the Showgrounds since 1971. Danny Burke has started the season off great and hopefully may get rewarded with a rep jersey later in the year if his form holds up. He dropped a bit of weight in off season and showing the benefits of all his hard work he has done over the summer. Somebody else looking a bit different is Shane Perry when I turned up to the Wynnum game I thought he was out injured and somebody came in for him when I saw our number six with blonde hair. As they say what happens on tour stays on tour but I can report that the Red and White ladies didn?t misbehave in Townsville this year like they did in Cairns last year. The only person who did play up was our number one supporter in Townsville ?Figgy? who had a little accident in the cab on the way home, must have been something he ate or the 76 rums he had one or the other. And for the people who asked me up in Townsville if ?Figgy? is my older brother, no he is not (thankfully), we aren?t even related. On the plane up Jamie Russo was spotted bopping away to a number of 70?s disco hits playing on the in-flight radio. He was happy bopping around to the Village People, Gloria Gaynor, Sister Sledge and others. While Matty Dawson looked like he had his 12 year old brothers shirt on after the game it was that tight. While poor old Dessy had a trip to Townsville he would rather forget he hurt his back just about as soon as we arrived at the Motel and was bed ridden for the entire trip and even missed the game. As I told you last month the players had a low mo competition going and the winner was Phil Shilvock. Vocky looked like he was Hulk Hogan with his long thick moustache and was very popular with his teammates when he put his cash prize on the bar. When the team played at Burleigh we thought we had a celebrity in our dressing room after the game we saw a guy come in the sheds with a white ten gallon Cowboy hat on and we thought it was JR Ewing from the TV show Dallas but it turned out to be Bob Jones, we think Bobby has been has been hanging around Forrester too long. The players are dreading looking in the Redcliffe Herald each Wednesday it has been decided who ever is in the main action photo on the back page or where the match report is has to shout a carton of beer for the boys after training one night. Matty Gruszka has picked up a couple a nicknames one being ?The Polish Express? and the other is ?The Count? after the Sesame Street favourite. You see Matty likes to yell out the tackle count One, Twooo, Threeee etc during training from his spot on the wing. Another good result for the Club was the Gold Coast consortium decision not to use the Dolphin logo. Well done too all the people who signed petitions and backed the club help keep our history and traditions.

Until Next Month Cheers Robbo
