The Sydney Roosters? Premier League side has staked an unmistakable claim on defending their premiership after annihilating the Bulldogs 67-6 at WIN Stadium with their biggest win of the year this afternoon.
The loss sees Shane Flanagan?s side skip week two of the finals and head straight into a preliminary final in a fortnight?s time.
Boosted by the return of a number of key first grade stars from recent weeks, the Roosters were never headed and now look good things to claim the club?s only title this year.
The win was the side?s largest in 2005 ? and a grand final showdown against minor premiers Parramatta looms in October.
?It was a good display, we can?t get too carried away, though,? Flanagan said afterwards.
?Getting the week off is a big bonus ? it gives you that extra time to prepare and have some time to treat a few niggly injuries.
?But we still have to win in two weeks time.
?We won?t be getting ahead of ourselves.?
The win is the second time in six days the Roosters have thrashed the Dogs, after defeating them 28-8 last week to set up tonight?s mismatch in class and skill.
The Bulldogs actually led 6-0 at one stage but were hopelessly outplayed by the fired up Roosters - who ran roughshod in the second stanza to post a half-century and secure a confidence-boosting win.
