Roosters Injury Worries
Ease

Sydney Roosters pair Craig Fitzgibbon and Shannon Hegarty were cleared to play in Sunday's National Rugby League grand final against Penrith.

Fitzgibbon (fractured thumb) and Hegarty (bruised hip/ribs) did not require X-rays on their injuries and will train Tuesday morning at Wentworth Park in a closed session.

"Both trained lightly in our rehab session yesterday and both are much better than we first thought," Roosters football manager Brian Canavan said.

"Shannon particularly was quite good - we were pleasantly surprised.

"Fitzy has a small fracture and he's not particularly worried about it."

The players rested Monday and the club has scheduled an open training session at Aussie Stadium tonight as part of its fans day.

"It'll be semi-serious but it will be a run," said Canavan.

Meanwhile, Sydney coach Ricky Stuart ruled out making unforced changes to the grand final squad he names on today as the Roosters attempt to win back-to-back premierships for the first time since Brisbane in 1992-93.

Stuart started with seven forwards in the preliminary final against the Bulldogs on Saturday night, leaving halfback Brett Finch on the bench for the opening minutes.
