Round 17 Team of the Week

This week?s sheet has some classy names on it even though 33 rep players were stood down for Origin III this coming Wednesday night. ?TBA? passed his fitness test but failed to raise the eye of our Live Updaters during his cameo, apart from the little 35m dash up-field. So here we give you the Round 17 League Unlimited Team of the Week which would take more stopping than a player manager before June 30.

Fullback - B Slater (Storm) The Origin discard certainly proved his worth when the Maroon selectors unleashed him on the Doggies this week. Ran down Patten and backed up for a try in a great performance for the Melbourne custodian.

Wing - C Walker (Roosters) Back from the dead Chris Walker played an important role for the Roosters as the side desperately lacked experience. He was wearing the number 1 jersey at the weekend but there?s no doubt he?s comfortable on the wing.

Centre - J Hodges (Broncos) Hodgo had a huge game for the competition leaders, scoring a try, making several breaks and chipping in with some good defense. He seems to have finally found his way home.

Centre ? G Inglis (Storm) Boom rookie Inglis will be asking for a pay rise soon. Usually he deputises for Billy Slater but this week he found himself in the centres thanks to Matt King?s inclusion in the NSW side. He made the most of his opportunity carding a double.

Wing ? M Geyer (Storm) MG junior was solid as always on the wing for the Storm. He may not be the flashiest player running around but he turns up week-in, week-out and puts in, bringing a smile to his coach?s face.

Five-eighth ? J Morris (Eels) Had a sensational game against the Rabbitohs and continues to build his partnership with Tim Smith. The young halfback is getting plenty of wraps but Morris is providing an old head from which to leverage. Morris scored a try and potted three goals.

Halfback ? S Prince (Tigers) Well, what can we say? Sensational back to back matches from Prince as the Tigers seem to be finding their feet. His kicking game is out of this world and he chimes in here with a field goal. QLD selectors take note?

Lock ? R Jensen (Cowboys) I love this bloke! He?s hard as nails and just eager for work every week. Jensen is the type of player with little respect for his own body and he just does what needs to be done. He bullocked his way over the line for two top-notch tries.

Second-row ? L Fulton (Tigers) Young Liam is coming along in leaps and bounds this season as he begins to form part of a tough back-row alongside Galea and Laffranchi. He powered his way across the chalk and has earned his spot in the team.

Second-row ? J Cayless (Roosters) Jason is taking off to the U.K. next year and although he spends more time in the front row we?ve slotted him here to create a massive pack this week. He certainly has the work rate to play anywhere up front and is a walk up start to the Kiwi side.

Prop ? S Webcke (Broncos) Big Shane led the way for Brisbane on Sunday in the absence of his Origin buddies. He?s a luxury in any side and we?ve got him in the engine room again to carve out the much needed yards up front.

Hooker ? S Woolford (Raiders) Germ had a blinder at the weekend, scoring a pair and breaking this season?s duck. He ran cleverly at times, tackled hard and distributed the ball as we all know he can.

Prop ? R Wiki (Warriors) What a monster pack Ruben rounds out! He stood up for the Warriors as they found the going tough and were overcome by the Cowboys. Wiki is their best performer every week and he bagged a try just for good measure.

This bench is top shelf with Marshall providing the unpredictability, L?Estrange (a first timer) giving reliability, Widders offering explosiveness out of acting half and Smith bringing a cool head to the table.

Interchange: B Marshall (Tigers), H L'Estrange (Roosters), D Widders (Eels), J Smith (Raiders).

These fellas did alright at the weekend as well. They couldn?t make the top 17, but they?ve been featuring in out LU Player Points of the Year consistently and we thought we?d let them know we hadn?t forgotten about them.

Honourable mentions: T Smith (Eels), D Peachey (Sharks), P Campbell (Panthers).
