Round 18 Team of the Week

A huge round of upsets this week sees some interesting selections from our trusted live score updaters who have a keen eye on every game of the week. There?s absolutely no doubt that every player here is worthy of selection this time round, making the Round 18 League Unlimited Team of the Week the only side running around in the NRL that is a sure thing to take the two points home.

Fullback ? B Hodgson (Tigers) Another outstanding display from the wiry custodian, who frequents this coveted role. Bagged the first try of the day to get the Tigers rolling and kicked five important goals in a tight one against the Roosters.

Wing ? T Byrne (Warriors) ?Skinny? has fully recovered from injury and getting amongst the try-scorers circle again, with the Warriors finding a new way to lose at home. Byrne can hold his head high though.

Centre ? S Bell (Storm) Off to Manly next year but Bell keeps producing the goods week-in, week-out for the Storm and will be sorely missed down south. He crossed the chalk in a low-scoring affair and defended solidly.

Centre ? B Smith (Eels) What a revelation this guy has been! You would have said ?Ben who?? a few months ago but now we?re talking about this guy being the driving force in the Eels backline. He?s scoring tries at will and picked up a treble for his efforts against the Dragons.

Wing ? J Webster (Storm) Webster rounds out an outstanding three-quarter combination, coming out on top in a mixed game by scoring a try but muffing another. He?s big, strong and quick and means business.

Five-eighth ? B Anasta (Bulldogs) He?ll be a Rooster next year but at the moment Braith is playing some quality footy over at the Dogs, bagging a hat-trick and leading his chargers to victory. He teams up with Origin buddy Johns in the halves.

Halfback ? A Johns (Knights) Inspired his team to a second half revival against the Cowboys, trailing 18-4 at halftime. Joey is doing it tough at Newcastle but his efforts for the Blues show he?s still got all his powers and he would have savoured Sunday?s victory, also booted three goals.

Lock ? A Harrison (Rabbitohs) Another Rooster in 2006 and once again playing some of the best footy of his career, Harrison helped his team to a huge boilover against the Sharkies on Saturday night. Tackled the house down and played with vigour throughout.

Second-row ? N Hindmarsh (Eels) Once again Hindy was in the engine room for the Eels, pumping out strong runs and getting involved in plenty of defense. He?s taken his game to a new level this year with strong showings at club and state level.

Second-row ? A Laffranchi (Tigers) The unsung hero of a surging Tigers outfit who are beating all-comers at the moment. They?re hit a purple patch and Laffranchi has been in there toiling away as usual.

Prop ? S Logan (Rabbitohs) He was another stand out for the Bunnies, rolling up the sleeves and getting down and dirty at Aussie Stadium against a more fancied Sharks pack. He?s also weighing up his options for next year.

Hooker ? C Smith (Storm) Great service once again from the Storm rake who really come together when he?s playing. Tackled hard as usual and gave good service to his plucky no. 7.

Prop ? A Tupou (Roosters) Jumped out of the box at full pace on Sunday but couldn?t steer the Roosters to victory. Nevertheless Tupou was one of the best props on display at the weekend and we?ve all enjoyed watching him start the game over the past few weeks.

What an explosive bench we have here. Presto was the best for a lacklustre Panthers outfit who just got the points, with Mini jnr, BK and the rampaging Dean Widders all to be injected at some stage.

Interchange: P Campbell (Panthers), M Minichiello (Rabbitohs), B Kennedy (Sea Eagles), D Widders (Eels).
