Round 21 Jim
Beam Cup Review-Souths Juniors

Round 21 of the Jim Beam Cup Competition saw Coogee Oval host it?s second Jim Beam Cup game this season. Ourimbah Magpies did their best to get the local crowd on side by wearing Coogee Dolphins football jumpers for the 1st half of the game.

With a gale force wind behind us in the first half we capitalised early through half Darrell Trindall who stepped past two players to score under the posts. Five minutes later a Lydan Maitua pass put Dane Gilmore through a gap and he raced 50metres to score our next try.

Scott McLean, Aaron Aitken and Quinton Silva also crossed the line each in the first half and we extended our lead to 30 points to nil.

Ourimbah Magpies Jumpers must have arrived during the break because when they returned for the second half they had their correct playing strip. The second half started the right way when Darrell Trindall took an intercept pass and crossed the line for his second four pointer of the day.

The scoring continued for Souths Juniors in the second half with our forward pack leading the way. Noah Sete, Gerald Symonds and Chris Saab each grabbed a try each in a dominant display.

Conditions were ordinary for players, officials and spectators and we thank everyone who turned up to give their support to our team. Captain Clint Cooke played a great game of football as did Lincoln Higgins, Gerald Symonds, Scotty McLean who scored 18 of our sides points. Best and fairest went to Chris Saab who played a fantastic game of football

With two weeks of the competition proper remaining our boys are playing great football and must have opposition coaches worried for them to come out to a windy Coogee Oval to watch our boys go around.

Next week we take on second placed Wentworthville Magpies at Ringrose Park and the following week we meet Woy Woy at Redfern Oval in our final home game of the year so come along and show your support to your team Souths Juniors.
