Round 24
Dragons v Tigers

Dragons media release: 10 May 2006 Following media speculation over the weekend, The St George Illawarra Dragons wish to advise there has not been any decision on the Round 24 Dragons home game against the Tigers being played at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

The Dragons have received an expression of interest from the SCG Trust, supported by the NRL.

Round 24 is the NRL?s ?60s week? and the NRL has asked the Dragons to consider switching the game from Oki Jubilee Stadium to the SCG as a flashback to and feature of their ?60?s week? promotions.

The St George RLFC experienced great success throughout the 1960s and the request will be considered by the St George Illawarra Board later this month.

?We are conscious of our ongoing playing commitments in our key communities within our region,? said Dragons Chairman Warren Lockwood. ?A financial incentive has been offered and all pertinent factors will be considered when the proposal is discussed?.

The St George heritage and its link to the Sydney Cricket Ground will be obvious to all St George and St George Illawarra supporters and the St George Illawarra Dragons cherish such opportunities in the interests of the game of rugby league.

Members and supporters will be informed of the Club?s decision relating to the venue for this Round 24 match in due course.
