Round 25 Team of the Week

The second last round of the season has given us a pretty tough team to beat. With the Australian fullback, wing, halfback, lock and plenty of others who have rep jumpers to their credit, the Round 25 League Unlimited Team of the Week has all the ingredients to be one of our best ever. Have a go at these boys!

Fullback ? A Minichiello (Roosters) Man of the match stuff from Mini on Friday night with the highlight being a superb length-of-the-field try, standing up Karmichael Hunt on the way through. And he bagged another one just for good measure...

Wing ? M Sing (Cowboys) Fabulous effort for the Cowboys on Sunday, showing his class by scoring three tries in an otherwise boring affair. You know he?s doing well when the headline ?Sing on song for Cowboys? gets a run?quality stuff.

Centre ? P Franze (Panthers) Another hat-trick but this time for Franze, a bloke who?s had it a bit tough recently. With injuries robbing him of plenty of time on the paddock, Paul finally seems to be getting some consistency in his game and played well throughout.

Centre ? B Smith (Eels) The hits just keep coming! The lanky and versatile three-quarter keeps improving his game each week. Able to play on either side of the field, Big Ben is going great guns right now.

Wing ? L Burt (Eels) I?m running out of things to say here. Burt put on three meat pies and posted 8 goals, equalling his previous record of 28 points in a match. It?s a shame he missed that late penalty goal for himself and the team, but they?re one club who don?t need to worry about differentials right now.

Five-eighth ? J Thurston (Cowboys) A prominent exhibition of footy from Thurston, who is turning into the buy of the year for the Cowboys. His form is allowing Firman to adjust to things at the club which may prove vital in the semis.

Halfback ? A Johns (Knights) Joey tore the Sharks to pieces on Saturday night in front of a huge home crowd. He scored a try, booted six goals and lived up to his reputation as the best no.7 running around right now. He also leads the LU Player of the Year Awards in a remarkable season.

Lock ? B Kennedy (Sea Eagles) Big bad BK did his best to get Manly into the semis on Saturday night, scoring two powerful tries, belting opponents and constantly putting his body on the line. Sadly it wasn?t enough to beat the Warriors, but if there were a few more Ben Kennedy?s out there the world would be a better place.

Second-row ? D Kidwell (Storm) Davey Kidwell kept his mouth shut this week and stuck to what he knows best ? footy. A good, tough display from a hardened veteran, providing a solid base in the forwards for the backs to work from.

Second-row ? C Newton (Knights) Jack jnr is really coming along in leaps and bounds this year. His running game is impressive, he tackles hard and now and then finds a good offload. He?s the most under-rated backrower running around right now.

Prop ? R Kearns (Storm) Melbourne farewelled their captain in style and won?t they miss this bloke! Robbie turned out his usual five-star display and stuck the kiddies on the shoulders afterwards for the tear-jerking photo?s. The Storm may have a few things left to say before we all get too carried away about Parra and the Dragons.

Hooker ? L Priddis (Panthers) Again Priddis put in a consistent performance, making him one of the most reliable rake?s running around at the moment. He had a hand in a few tries and kept the Panthers in the race for the eight.

Prop ? P Civoniceva (Broncos) Petero ploughed his way through another ordeal on Friday night and this guy must be hoping Webcke gets back soon. He doesn?t get a great deal of support in the forwards and was one of the Bronco?s best.

An exciting bench here with Stacey earning a jersey in his last game for us. Price offers stability, Moi Moi some explosiveness and Harrison skill and versatility to a team already containing so many superstars.

Interchange: S Jones (Warriors), S Price (Warriors), F Moi Moi (Eels), A Harrison (Rabbitohs).
