Round 26 Team of the Week

The last round of this year?s NRL regular season is over, but boy do we have another cracking team! There were some real stand-outs over the weekend and the full results for the season can be found at Monday?s Expert. For now, please form a guard of honour as our boys run out for the last time. Here is the Round 26 League Unlimited Team of the Week.

Fullback ? M Bowen (Cowboys) Back to his best against the Storm and had some controversial moments including a rare penalty try amongst his regular weekend double. Bowen has also taken out the LU Fullback of the Year in an all-round spectacular display of footy.

Wing ? P Richards (Tigers) The big flashy winger gets another jumper for us - yes, we like his style and his drop-outs. Pat scored two good tries in an otherwise flat Tigers outfit.

Centre ? N Vagana (Sharks) Nigel was one of the few blokes who turned up for the Sharks at the weekend, making several breaks and dishing out some punishing defence. His goatee gets longer and better each week. He?s also equal second in the LU Centre of the Year nominations.

Centre ? B Tate (Broncos) Despite also playing in a losing side and not crossing the stripe, Brent Tate showed some flashes of brilliance on Friday night against the Eels that makes me think he?s back to his barnstorming best.

Wing ? B Howland (Panthers) Had a good game at the back for the Panthers, but we?ve thrown him onto the other flank, a position he is accustomed to. Howland has been a good servant of the Panthers and got away with two neat tries.

Five-eighth ? J Sutton (Rabbitohs) This kid has a huge future. Scored two great individual tries at the weekend. On the first he beat Kimmorley hands down and the second he beat most of the team. Can?t wait to see him in action next year?

Halfback ? A Johns (Knights) Our LU Halfback, Player and Captain of the Year once again lines up in his favoured no.7 jersey. Joey is without a doubt the best halfback running around right now and he carded another superb round yesterday, helping the Knights to stay in the game against the Dragons and pushing them at home whilst booting a lazy 4 goals.

Lock ? B Kennedy (Sea Eagles) This guy is a sensational player and an inspirational forward! BK is the LU Lock-forward of the Year. Kennedy means so much to Manly and will be crucial in their semi against Parramatta.

Second-row ? D Widders (Eels) Widders is a special player and is making a massive impact off the bench. He notched up a double against the Bronc?s and looks dangerous everytime he gets the ball.

Second-row ? F Moi Moi (Eels) We?ll stick him in the back-row here to partner his mate from Parra. He?s pretty versatile and mobile enabling him to slot in around the rucks, also has a good offload. Might be in a spot of bother with the judiciary though.

Prop ? L Bailey (Dragons) Bull is raging right now and looks to be as hungry for a premiership as anyone I?ve ever seen. He still carts the ball up relentlessly, tackles his heart out and lifts the team whenever he?s on the field. Recently, he also taken to scoring tries at will. Named the LU Prop of the Year somebody stop him!!!

Hooker ? L Priddis (Panthers) Priddo scored a good try and went well in a week not known for strong hooker performances. He?s missed selection for the Aussie team, but despite this has won the LU Hooker of the Year in a pretty good season for him personally.

Prop ? J Ryles (Dragons) Rylesy stood tall against the Knights, making good yards and tackling well. His try and subsequent push-up sledge on captain Barrett brought a laugh to the crowd. He?ll be busting for the semis as well.

On the bench we?ve got some interesting selections. Sam Perrett from the Roosters gets a run and is a real bolter, throwing up a solid contribution after getting a surprise call-up. Veteran Robbie Kearns comes off the bench in his last game for us. Then there?s a bit of creativity with Walker and Thurston sure to be injected when the troops tire, allowing these two in-form players to run amok.

Interchange: S Perrett (Roosters), R Kearns (Storm), B Walker (Rabbitohs), J Thurston (Cowboys).
