Russia Still Have To Work To
Improve

Allan Bateman and Kevin Ellis both made try-scoring returns as Wales cruised to a record-breaking 74-4 victory over Russia in the European Nations Cup at Aberavon.

Centre Adam Hughes and Bridgend winger Lenny Woodard both recorded hat-tricks as Neil Kelly's men warmed up for next Sunday's clash with world champions Australia in Bridgend.

The Welsh scored 14 tries, seven in each half, to beat their previous best score, a 68-0 win over Papua New Guinea in 1991.

Russia had the consolation of scoring the best try of the match when scrum-half Denis Nikolski broke clear and took a return pass from Robert Iliassov to send winger Sergei Dobrynin over.

The visitors' also had an impressive performer in towering second-rower Kirill Koulemin but they missed too many first-up tackles and lacked the pace and power to cause the Welsh any problems.
