Ryles out for
the season

International prop Jason Ryles will join the growing list of season casualties following news that he has suffered damage to nerves and the rotator cuff in his left shoulder.

Ryles was forced from the field early in last Wednesday's State of Origin match and took no further part. Its understood that he will need a complete reconstruction following cartilage damage and an 80 per cent tear to the rotator cuff and will be unable to train fully for six months.

Ryles joins St George Illawarra Dragons team mates Trent Barrett, Lance Thompson and Amos Roberts on the sidelines.

Roberts will almost certainly need season-ending shoulder surgery after aggravating his shoulder in last weekend's lower grade fixture - this being a similar problem which has New South Wales' five-eighth Shaun Timmins in doubt for Saturday night's game when the Dragons take on the North Queensland Cowboys in Townsville.
