Salford were the surprise packet of Super League last season, starting the season with a bang and out performing rivals to finish fifth on the table and gain their first Super League play-off spot. In that game they faced a dominant Bradford side, and coach Karl Harrison will be keen for a repeat appearance in the top six this year. But it will be a competitive tussle for play-off spots this season, in what is shaping as the most open Super League in years and every game will count.
This season Andrew Dunemann heads back to back to the NRL, and Salford have opted to replace him in a key playmaking role by drafting in Luke Dorn from Harlequins. In the backline Salford have also lost Junior Langi to retirement, and Ireland rep winger Anthony Stewart and centre Ryan Clayton to National league clubs, and half Stephen Myler to rugby union. Dorn will play alongside half Luke Robinson and be charged with the responsibility for Salford
