Scotland go looking for their first win over England at open age level when they face the Lionhearts at Hamilton RFC on Sunday. Scotland have lost both meetings with the Auld Enemy in the Parkhouse Recruitment Four Nations Championship but went down only to a late try in York last summer and have won four of their last five internationals.
Coach Kevin Rudd could at least call on experience of beating England: he was in the Scotland Students side that beat England 10-4 at the 1996 Student World Cup, the only time a Scottish side has defeated the English at any level in rugby league since Scotland made their international bow 15 years ago. Among Rudd's team-mates that day was Jason Syme, whose younger brother Jamie - from Fife - is set to make his Scotland debut on Sunday.
Winger Callum Anderson from Peebles could become the youngest ever Scotland open age international if he makes his debut: the 16 year old could beat the record set by John Duffy, now of Leigh Centurions, who was 17 when he made his debut against France in 1997.
Kick off at Hamilton is 3pm.Like
