Scott Prince dropped fom Aussie team

Clive Churchill winner Scott Prince has been dropped from the Australia side to face Great Britain for this weekend's Tri-Nations clash.

The decision by coach Wayne Bennett has put a dampener on an otherwise outstanding season for the Dally-M Captain of the Year.

Half back Prince led his Wests Tigers side to victory over the North Queensland Cowboys in the NRL grand final just over a month ago.

Penrith Panthers skipper and half back Craig Gower will take his place in the side.

Meanwhile Sydney Roosters utility Craig Wing, who was recalled into the side last week, will take his spot on interchange bench ahead of Prince.

St George Illawarra Dragons captain Trent Barrett has passed a fitness test and is expected to partner Gower at five-eighth.

Australia meet the Lions on Saturday night at KC Stadium in Hull (Sunday morning, Australia and New Zealand time). Only a handful of differential points separate the teams. This weekend's clash is crucial in deciding next week's final with New Zealand also sweating on the result.
