Sea Eagles do enough to down Warriors

The Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles have secured a 27-12 victory over the New Zealand Warriors at Bluetongue Stadium on a glorious Sunday Afternoon in Gosford.

The Stewart brothers played a major part in the Sea Eagles win after Glenn claimed three try assists and Brett a double for himself.

The first points were posted as Brett Stewart slipped through a gap in the Warriors defence. Jamie Lyon unable to convert, 14 minutes lapsed at Bluetongue, Manly led 4-0.

David Williams returned to some solid form as he claimed a hat trick during the contest. His first came after 25 minutes thanks to a pin-point pass from Glenn Stewart. Lyon with the conversion extended the lead to 10-0.

A swing in possession and increasing errors from the Sea Eagles presented the Warriors an opportunity to strike back. Ngani Laumape has finished off a scrum move as Manu Vatuvei dummied his way through. After 40 minutes, the Sea Eagles led 10-6.

David Williams started the second half strongly posting two tries. Glenn Stewart had a hand in both four-pointers which saw Manly shoot to a lead of 20-6 after 57 minutes.

The Warriors failed to click into gear, but there was signs of life as Shaun Johnson danced through the defence off a Simon Mannering offload. The Warriors attempted to spark a fight back as they trailed 20-12 inside the final 20 minutes.

Brett Stewart dashed any hope the Warriors supporters held as he fooled the defence with a show-and-go to break through the line. The Sea Eagles out to a 24-12 lead with 15 minutes on the clock.

Manly doing enough to hold onto victory 27-12 as Daly Cherry-Evans snapped a field goal in the final minute of play.

The Warriors battle against Penrith next weekend as they hold a slim chance of making the 2013 finals series. Meanwhile Manly open Bluetongue Stadium once again as they battle the South Sydney Rabbitohs.
