Sharks board to call special meeting

Cronulla will consider calling a special board of directors meeting after the Mercury Grou presented chief executive Greg Pierce with its performance review.

Pierce called for the consultants to conduct an investigation into the club's dramatic late-season slide, losing its last 10 games in the worst losing streak in Sharks' history. The club boss says the review is not a witch hunt for coach Stuart Raper, although speculation continues to grow that he will be shown the door.

Assistant coach Adrian Lam or sacked Sydney Roosters coach Ricky Stuart are considered the frontrunners for the role. The Sharks won't comment on the report's findings until the board meets later this week.
