The Sharks have scored a crucial victory over the Sydney City Roosters at Aussie Stadium this afternoon, leapfrogging their opponents into fifth spot after a see sawing encounter saw the lead change on several occasions.
The score were locked at six all at the break with first half tries to Brett Mullins and Matthew Johns.
The second half saw an explosion of points as both teams tried to land the killer punch with the Sharks skipping out to an 18-6 lead through tries to Peachey and Gibson. Not to be outdone, the Roosters squared the ledger with tries to Minichello and Fittler.
In the 67th minute, Fitzgibon kicked the Roosters to a two point lead after a penalty goal but the Sharks were not to be denied, with tries in the 70th(Mckenna), 74th(Treister) and 77th(Reick) minutes to give them a hard fought fourteen point victory and an outside chance at the top four while the Roosters loss comes at a crucial time, with the Bondi boys having arguably the hardest run home of any team with games against the Broncos(away), Raiders(away), Warriors(home), Dragons(home) and Sharks(away).
Todays loss sees the Roosters face an uphill battle to retain fifth spot with five sides within striking distance that could possibly knock them out of the top eight altogether if results went against them.
