The Cronulla Sharks have beaten the Manly Sea Eagles 28-20 in a scrappy match at Toyota Park.
Both sides traded a penalty goal early on before a piece of David Peachey magic set up by Brett Kimmorley gave the Sharks the first try of the match.
McGoldrick followed up shortly after as he bet Andrew Walker to a kick along the ground from David Peachey.
The main controversy of the half came when a fight broke out between Jason Stevens and Ian Donnelly after an infringement in the play the ball. Tim Mander had no hesitation in sending both men to the sin bin, leaving both sides a man down.
While Stevens and Donnelly were off the field, Steve Menzies scored for the Sea Eagles to put them back in the match but Kimmorley?s 80 metre effort gave the Sharks a commanding 18-8 half time lead.
Manly needed to be the first to score in the second half but instead Kimmorley and Peachey both found their way over the quickly after the break sparking some confidence in the Sharks attack.
Cronulla weren?t able to capitalise on their momentum and paid for it when Chris Hicks went over in the corner for Manly keeping their hopes of a comeback alive.
Hope turned to reality when Andrew Walker went over in the 66th minute to bring Manly within just 8 points.
The Sharks were never really able to put the sword in and held on in the remaining minutes for an unconvincing win that leaves both sides with plenty of work to do.
