Sonny Bill Williams will miss the
next eight weeks due to an ankle injury

Mitsubishi Electric Bulldogs player Sonny Bill Williams will miss the next eight weeks due to an ankle injury sustained in last Sunday?s match against the Sharks.

Bulldogs doctor Hugh Hazard said ?An MRI scan has revealed that Sonny Bill has torn the anterior tibio-fibular ligament (front) in his right ankle. In addition, the scan showed a tear in the lateral ligament of the same ankle.?

Hazard added, ?With regard to treatment for the injury, Sonny Bill will be on crutches for two weeks so as to take all weight off the injured leg. After such time the injury will be re-assessed to determine the next course of treatment.?

Yesterday, Williams and fellow Bulldogs player Willie Tonga came down with an illness with symptoms resembling the mumps. Bulldogs medical staff are awaiting the result of blood tests.
