Souths' weekend just got better

In a week which saw a stable of new players being signed for 2003, the South Sydney Rabbitohs have celebrated in fine style with a win over the Penrith Panthers tonight.

Owen Craigie potted his first ever field goal to seal a 23-16 victory for his team at Penrith Football Stadium. This followed the match winning try by Shane Rigon, playing his 100th first grade game, after he ran off an excellent offload from Nathan DeBartolo.

The win however may have come at a price with DeBartolo on report for a dangerous throw while Souths captain Adam Muir, also on report was stretchered off after falling awkwardly and badly spraining his ankle.

The Panthers who led for much of the match will count the reasons for the loss with two tries conceded following handling errors near their own line.
