Storm Injury Toll Continues To Rise

Melbourne Storm?s early season injury toll continues to rise with news that centre Steven Bell will miss next week?s match against Newcastle following a knee injury suffered at training yesterday.

Bell injured his right knee after taking part in a training drill using full body tackling suits and will undergo an arthroscope next Tuesday.

The 26-year-old former Storm Rookie of the Year started the 2003 Telstra Premiership in sensational form collecting a hat trick in Melbourne?s round one win over the Sharks but is certain to miss the Storm?s next big test at Energy Australia Stadium next Saturday.

Bell had his knee bent backwards in a tackle at yesterday?s session and was immediately taken from the field.

After losing prop Rodney Howe to a knee injury for three months earlier in the week, the Storm are using the bye this week to rest and recover before heading to Newcastle next Saturday.
