Suncorp Stadium has surface
inspection

Rugby league officials have given the controversial playing surface at Suncorp Stadium the thumbs up after an inspection before tonight's final State of Origin match.

Australian Rugby League chief executive Geoff Carr and National Rugby League chief David Gallop examined the ground after adverse reports about the Brisbane surface. Three players have suffered serious knee injuries at the venue, which has staged four games since reopening on June 1.

But Carr says the surface has improved considerably since the opening Origin match between NSW and Queensland on June 11. The Blues tonight are seeking a 3-0 series clean sweep.
