Swain signs on with Broncos for
2003

One of leagues true tough guys Richard Swain, has signed on to play with the Brisbane Broncos for season 2003 after failing to come to terms with the Melbourne Storm.

Swain has played every game for the Storm since their inception in 1998 and is one of the elite hookers in the NRL. Swain is also the leading tackler in the NRL and should easily pass 1000 tackles this season.

The signing of Swain is a huge coup for the Broncos, who will boast a pack including Webcke, Tallis, Carlaw, Meyers, Swain and Civoniceva. Swains service from dummy half and his relentless defence will make the Broncos pack the most formidable in the NRL.

Swain apparently signed on with the Broncos for less than he was offered by the Storm and it will be a costly blunder for the Storm, who had Swain as one of their only shining lights in what has been a disappointing season to date as they fight it out with St George, Canberra and the Northern Eagles for the remaining spot in the top eight.
