Tackling cancer issues at Oki
Jubilee Stadium

Amateur athletes, rather than robust rugby league players, will take to OKI Jubilee Stadium on May 1 and 2 for the inaugural St.George relay for life. The St.George-Illawarra Dragons and Kogarah Council have allowed the oval to be used for the overnight community event, which aims to raise money for The Cancer Council NSW.

Organising committee chairman Mark Coure said the event would be dedicated to people who had been affected by cancer.

"It will be about remembering those people who have lost their life to cancer and celebrating with those who have survived the disease," Mr Coure said.

The organising committee is looking for people to enter a team of 10-15 friends, family or work colleagues. Local businesses are encouraged to sponsor the event and supply prizes for raffles and giveaways.

It would also like to hear from local cancer survivors, their families and others touched by cancer who want to support the event.

The third Sutherland Shire Relay for Life will be held at the Sylvania Waters Track on May 29 and 30.
