In a high scoring match at Brookvale Oval in front of a very vocal Sunday afternoon crowd, the Bulldogs have come away with a hard fought win over the Sea Eagles by 50-32. Fourteen tries in all were scored by the two teams.
The Sea Eagles now hold the record for the fastest try scored since the competition began as the NRL. 34 seconds into the match saw the Sea Eagles centre Albert Torrens score the first try of the match.
Within 15 minutes the Bulldogs had snapped out of their initial shock to hold a handy 18-6 lead. Not to be outdone the Sea Eagles came back at the visitors with two tries to bounce right back into the game.
The lead of 26-18 was never going to be enough for the Bulldogs to ease off the pedal against the home side desperately not wanting to be at the bottom of the competition ladder.
3 tries to the Bulldogs second rower Andrew Ryan was a superb effort along with 2 to Matt Utai returning back to first grade for the first time since Round 9. Ray Asotasi was outstanding throughout the game. A top class performance also by Kylie Leuluai for the Sea Eagles who caused mayhem amongst the Bulldogs attack, along with the fullback Brett Stewart who had a solid game for the home side.
Unfortunately for the Sea Eagles they now find themselves at the bottom of the ladder, with the second week in a row giving away 50 points to the opposition. The Bulldogs without some of their top players put in a fine effort but know there is work to be done before their next game against the Melbourne Storm who are on fire at the moment.
