The Sydney Airport Jets might have just narrowly missed a spot in the 2004 VB Premier League semi-finals, but Newtown fans can still see a team wearing the famous Royal Blue colours in a Grand Final this Saturday - at an inner western Sydney venue, and coached by a former Newtown International no less. Our fraternal club, the UTS Jets, are once again in the NSW Tertiary Rugby League First Grade Grand Final, coached by the highly-regarded and well-qualified Phil "Wotsapacketa" Sigsworth. "Siggy" has brought a standard of coaching expertise and level of Rugby League nous never seen before in this developmental standard of Rugby League football, and he has now taken his UTS Jets to their second successive Grand Final.
We urge all Newtown fans to get down to Leichhardt Oval this Saturday afternoon to cheer "Siggy's" lads on. The game details are: 2004 NSWRL Tertiary Rugby League First Grade Grand Final Saturday, September 11th Leichhardt Oval UTS Jets (wearing the famous Newtown colours and coached by Phil Sigsworth) versus UWS (University of Western Sydney) Nirimba. Kick-Off: 3.00 pm. Curtain-raisers: Lower grade grand finals.
