Thompson dropped to Premier
League

St George Illawarra forward Lance Thompson has been dropped to Premier League for disciplinary reasons and will play in this Saturday's Rockhampton trial against the Central Comets. The experienced back rower has also been fined by the Dragons.

Last month Thompson was given a 12-day break to take care of personal problems. Dragons chief executive Peter Doust chief executive has confirmed that Thompson had been disciplined but declined to provide any details.

"He has been dropped from the NRL squad for disciplinary reasons," Doust said.

Last year, Thompson took a much publicised pay-cut so the club could retain other players under the salary cap.

Thompson, who turned 26 yesterday, played in Saints 34-8 demolition of South Sydney in last Saturday's Charity Shield. Already a veteran first grader, Thompson debuted for St George in 1995 and has played 159 first grade games.
