Tickets, missing trophy & fans

Only 2,000 tickets remain unsold for the Grand Final between Brisbane and Melbourne after tickets went on sale this morning.

Season ticket holders rushed to Ticketek offices, eager to snap up the last 10,000 seats to the Telstra Stadium clash. By 10am (AEST) up to 8,000 tickets had been sold. The quick sale of tickets eases concerns the Sydney public wouldn't support a decider between teams from outside NSW.

Meanwhile, a search is underway to find the Premiership trophy after it went missing this morning while in transit to Melbourne for a photo shoot.

Just five days out from Sunday's Grand Final at Telstra Stadium, the NRL trophy is believed to be headed to Perth after a mix up in baggage handling with Qantas. Chief operating office Graham Annesley says the NRL is unaware of the exact location of the trophy but he has assured the public that the trophy will be on hand at Sunday's Grand Final.

Up north, Grand Final fever is running high in Brisbane with fans swamping the Brisbane Broncos training ground at Red Hill this morning.

It's the club's official fan day ahead of the grand final against Melbourne at Sydney's Telstra Stadium on Sunday. And officials decided to delay training by an hour when an estimated 2000 to 3000 fans crammed into the complex, allowing the players to spend time mingling and signing autographs before getting down to work.
