Tigers take out Toyota Cup Final

The West Tigers have pulled up an upset in the Toyota Cup grand final with a 46-6 thrashing over the Canberra Raiders.

While the Tigers were dominant for much of the match, it was the Raiders who were on the front foot early after opening up the scoring in the eighth minute through Mitchell Cornish.

The Tigers hit back quickly with back-to-back tries in the 11th minute and the 14th minute Kurtis Rowe and David Nofoaluma respectively.

Ben Picker looked like he may have gotten the Raiders back on track with a try in the 27th minute, but replays revealed he knocked on.

There was no denying Marika Koroibete when he strolled for the first of his two tries on half time. Jaccob Miller added the extras to give the Tigers an 18-6 lead heading into the break.

It was all the Tigers in the second half as they ran in five unanswered tries. Jack Gibson medal winner Matt Mulcahy claimed the first second half try in the 49th minute before Koroibete claimed his double in the 56th.

The Tigers stormed home from there as the Raiders struggled to execute their plays and produce the attack which had made them so successful through out the season.
