Titans bolt to three straight wins

The Gold Coast Titans have continued their good form with a 28-10 victory over the Penrith Panthers at Centebret Stadium in front of a disappointing crowd of 8,181.

The Titans have seen the rise of young halves Albert Kelly and Aidan Sezer and again today were in action getting the ball moving. The Titans opened the scoring inside the first 15 minutes with a left side raid saw Kelly link with Jamal Idris who found support in David Mead who strolled through over in the corner.

Greg Bird claimed the second four-pointer with a simple charge through five Panthers defenders and reached over them for points. The Panthers defenders emabarrased with a try being conceded. Titans defence remained strong in the first half with the Panthers having five chances on the goal line. As a result the Gold Coast headed into half time leading 12-0.

The Panthers started quickly in the second forty minutes with a try inside the first four minutes. Luke Walsh provied a cross field kick to the jumping Dave Simmons who managed to bat the ball back to Wes Naiqama. He raced in through the line to score first points for the Panthers. Luke Walsh with the conversion is unable to add the extras. Titans remained leaders, 12-4

The Titans spread the ball through the hands of six players and it ended up with Steve Michaels who managed to dance through the Panthers defence as Luke Walsh fell off the tackle and he burrows over. Aidan Sezer with the conversion extends the lead to 14 points.
Former Wests Tiger, Tom Humble took an intercept pass and streaked away from the Titans chasers 90 metres to score. Great speed shown by Humble to give the Panthers some hope of victory. Luke Walsh suffered vision troubles after getting poke in the eye earlier the match, Wes Naiqama with the attempt at goal was successful. 15 minutes remains and the Titans ahead, 18-10.

All hope as dashed for the Panthers as the Titans secured the victory with two late tries in the the final five minutes. Once again, points came against the run of play as Luke Walsh looked to get the ball spread wide but it when astray as Kevin Gordon cleaned and bolted 90 metres to score.  

The final points came through Kevin Gordon as Matt Srama broke the Panthers defence and raced through to provide an pass for Gordon who streaked away in the corner for his second four-pointer. There was concern for Matt Srama who came straight off the field after the pass with a possible dislocated shoulder. The Titans secured the 28-10 victory over the Panthers with a strong run in the final five minutes. 

Next week the Gold Coast host their bigger brother, the Broncos at Skilled Park. Meanwhile the Panthers will travel north to 1300SMILES Stadium as they hope to reclaim their season as they clash with the Cowboys.
