Titans get good news concerning Harrison

Gold Coast utility Ashley Harrison has been cleared of major damage to his elbow but club officials are still awaiting the result of scans on prop Brad Meyers' injured wrist.

Harrison and Meyers are likely to be named in the Titans squad to face the New Zealand Warriors in the NRL clash at Skilled Park on Sunday but their recovery will be closely monitored during the week.

They suffered the injuries in the Titans' 26-24 win over Brisbane on Friday night.

"It's improved a lot over the last couple of days," Harrison told AAP.

The Titans have stormed to the top of the table with five victories from six matches, despite the recent absence of injured prop Luke Bailey (broken arm) and suspended five-eighth Mat Rogers.

But the loss of Harrison and Meyers would severely test the depth of a squad playing an entertaining style of football, with classy halfback Scott Prince calling the shots.

In-form hooker Nathan Friend said the Titans weren't getting carried away with their sizzling early season form.

He hasn't forgotten last year when the Titans were entrenched in the top four by round 15 but lost eight of their last 10 matches to tumble out of finals contention.

"We're a mile away from completing what we set out to do," said Friend.

"Of course we're happy where we are at the moment.

"There's nowhere else you'd rather be than sitting at the top (of the ladder) with five from six but we certainly know we've got a long road ahead of us.

"We've learnt from last year that you can't get carried away with your position."

Friend and Harrison, who is firmly in the frame to earn a Queensland Origin jersey, said the Titans needed to win consistently on the road to really prove themselves.

"We've had two games away. Our hardest period is yet to come," Harrison said.

The Titans will play five of their final seven matches of the regular season on the road.

"We certainly do need to string a few (away wins) together to have any chance of being premiership contenders," Friend said.

"The emphasis is not on away games. We don't want to make a big deal of travelling away."

The Warriors are another team that struggle on the road but last year they thrashed the Titans 22-6 at Carrara.

"Their form has been pretty mixed this year," Friend said.

"They beat us last year pretty easily so we need to stop their big boys rolling forward.

"It's our first day game this year so it'll be interesting to see how we perform."
