Titans, Tigers to clash for Larry Corowa Shield

The Jetstar Gold Coast Titans and Wests Tigers will battle it out for the annual Larry Corowa Shield when the two sides clash at Skilled Park on Saturday night.

The Larry Corowa Shield was introduced last year in honour of the Murwillumbah born Corowa, who played for both the Balmain Tigers and the Gold Coast Seagulls during his distinguished rugby league career.

The Jetstar Titans won the inaugural Larry Corowa Shield when the two sides met in a pre-season trial match at Skilled Park in 2008 and the club will be looking to retain bragging rights this season.

Although initially designed as a pre-season fixture, the two sides have agreed to play for the Shield each time the Jetstar Titans host the Tigers at Skilled Park during the regular competition rounds.

Titans co-captain Scott Prince said the Larry Corowa Shield added an extra element to the clash between the Titans and his former club, who he won a premiership with in 2005.
